CANADIAN OLYMPIAN RACE WALKER AND CPA
PROUD TO BE REPRESENTING CANADA TO RIO 2016
CANADIAN CHAMPION

BIO

I was always serious about excelling in schooling and I landed an Academic Scholarship in Accounting at Plattsburg State University in New York. At that moment, I shifted my athletic focus to running and also to improving my English. After a year, I came back to Canada to finish my degree at the University of Quebec. While pursuing my CPA-CMA designation I was still passionate about sports and becoming an Olympian.   I moved to Alberta and while I managed to win some marathon mountain bike races and competed at the Canada Cup level I was limited by my technical skills and time to train. It was the same in cross-country skiing. Working full time and aspiring to race at an elite level was extremely difficult. But the fire inside to become an Olympian would not be extinguished. It was at this time that I had the crazy idea of trying race walking. I knew endurance events were my forte.  I am very fortunate to work for a great company, MEG Energy, that supports its employees and I have received a lot of support from them.  I also have a great wife, Marie, who often will bike beside me, giving me fuel or run with me. Never give up and believe in yourself.  It is true for myself!!!
